Canadian drivers should check three recent Transport Canada recalls involving certain 2026 Nissan Leaf and Ram 1500 vehicles, plus 2026–2027 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator SUVs. A model-year match alone does not confirm that a vehicle is affected—owners must check the VIN.

This roundup covers selected recent, consumer-relevant recalls available in Transport Canada’s database on August 3, 2026. It is not a complete list of Canadian recalls. Use the official recall notice and the manufacturer’s VIN lookup before arranging service.

2026 Nissan Leaf: child-seat locking function

Transport Canada recall 2026324 covers certain 2026 Nissan Leaf vehicles. The automatic locking retractor function in a rear outboard seat belt may not work correctly. As a result, a child seat installed with that seat belt may not be secured as intended, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.

Transport Canada says the lower universal anchorage system is not affected. Nissan advises owners to use that anchorage system to secure a child seat until the recall repair is completed, where the child seat and seating position permit it. A dealer will inspect the rear outboard seat-belt assemblies and replace them if necessary.

Read the official Transport Canada notice and check the vehicle through Nissan Canada’s VIN recall lookup.

2026–2027 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator: remote seat movement

Transport Canada recall 2026340 covers certain 2026–2027 Ford Explorer and Lincoln Aviator vehicles equipped with memory seats. When remote features are used, the driver’s seat may recline into the second row. An occupant could be trapped or injured.

At the time of this publication-day check, Transport Canada said corrective actions were still being developed. Owners should follow Ford or Lincoln recall notices, avoid placing a second-row occupant where unexpected seat movement could create a risk, and confirm status by VIN.

See Transport Canada recall 2026340 and Ford Canada’s recall lookup.

2026 Ram 1500: parking lamps and daytime running lamps

Transport Canada recall 2026320 covers certain 2026 Ram 1500 trucks equipped with premium headlamp assemblies. The parking lamps and daytime running lamps may flicker or fail. Reduced vehicle visibility can increase crash risk.

A dealer will inspect the headlamp assemblies and replace them as required. Owners should review the official Transport Canada notice and use Ram Canada’s VIN recall lookup.

How to check a Canadian vehicle recall safely

  1. Find the 17-character VIN on the dashboard, driver-door label, registration or insurance document.
  2. Open the manufacturer’s Canadian recall lookup or contact an authorized dealer.
  3. Compare the VIN result with the Transport Canada recall number.
  4. Follow the interim safety instructions in the notice.
  5. Book the official remedy with an authorized dealer and keep the repair record.

Recall repairs are generally performed without charge when a vehicle is covered, but the manufacturer or dealer must confirm eligibility. A used-vehicle history report can add context but does not replace a live recall lookup; see Motorz.ca’s guide to what a vehicle-history report can and cannot tell you.

Scope and limitations

This article summarizes three selected notices, not every active Canadian recall. Recall populations, remedies and manufacturer instructions can change. The official notice and VIN result take priority over this summary. Motorz.ca did not inspect any affected vehicle and does not claim that the vehicle shown in the accompanying photo is recalled.

Update note: Transport Canada records and manufacturer lookup routes were checked on August 3, 2026. This page will be updated if an included remedy or official instruction changes materially.
