Canadian motor-vehicle manufacturing sales totalled $23.96 billion in the first half of 2026, down 10.6% from the same six months of 2025. Motor-vehicle-parts manufacturing sales were $17.18 billion, down 1.1%.
Direct answer: factory sales recovered after a weak January, but the first-half total for vehicle manufacturing remained below 2025. This Statistics Canada measure is the value of goods manufactured—not vehicle production units, retail sales or exports.

The monthly path was uneven
Motor-vehicle manufacturing sales fell to $2.61 billion in January 2026, then rose to $4.29 billion in March and $4.61 billion in June. Parts manufacturing was steadier, moving from $2.47 billion in January to $3.16 billion in June.
The recovery in later months does not erase the weaker first-half comparison. Nor does a change in factory sales prove a matching change in employment, exports or the number of vehicles assembled. Prices, product mix, plant schedules and inventory movements can all affect the dollar value.
